Gothic inspired Church in Eastern North Carolina

This beautiful White Church is the All Saints Episcopal Church built in 1885. It’s located in Fairfield North Carolina in Hyde County. I hadn’t done much exploring in this area of North Carolina so I was surprised how different it was from the mountainous regions I’m usually in. Very flat and lots of water but also very beautiful. There is so much history here, a lot of the area has been untouched being so far away from a large city. The houses and Churches in this part of NC are very well preserved.

When we were there the swans were migrating which is something I hadn’t been aware of. They were taking over the fields and ponds flapping their giant wings and honking loudly. It was quite the sight! There must’ve been thousands. I did a little research and found out that 75,000 swans migrate to northeastern North Carolina every fall to take advantage of the abundant food sources found in the lakes and farm fields. I would definitely recommend exploring this area if you like the rural back roads.

Each Winter , thousands of Tundra Swans migrate to Eastern North Carolina, where they spend time preening, eating and resting. In November, thousands arrive in northeastern North Carolina , where they’ll stay through February.
