Winter Retreat along the St. Johns River
This House was once new and vibrant. It was the Summer Home of James R. Mellon and his family from Pennsylvania. James brought his wife and kids to Palatka, Florida for a warmer climate and the beautiful St. Johns River in 1883. While living here James donated land for a School and built a library he had designed by the well known architect Henry John Klutho.

The Mellon house must have been amazing. It’s still pretty and that beautiful fence and sidewalk give it a wonderful appeal. I would love to fix it up and live there.
